Home Up Vehicle Requirements The Mad Lab Ring and Pinion Setup Darryl's Hybrid Traction Bar Axle Swap Jeep Hauler Spindle Nut Socket

What does it take to make a hybrid? Well, get a truck, a Jeep pickup in this case, and strip it down
to just the motor, tranny, frame, and axles (Or whatever you want to keep on it.) Here's the front and cab from the truck. The truck was bought whole and drove to the "Mad Lab".
Motor is a newly rebuilt, 304. Tranny is a T-18. After stripping the frame, Darrell placed a Datsun King Cab on the frame. Some welding and cutting
is done here. Decide where you want it and MAKE it fit. You have to make the body mounts fit, but you also have to cut the floor out so the stick shifts fit
through the floor. Just grab a grinder, torch, hammer, Bigger hammer, ect. and make it fit. To go along with our reasoning, "If it breaks, replace it with something bigger and better." when
Darrell broke his pinky, we replaced it with the middle finger off a giant, but that's a later "Tech Tip."
Seriously, there can be some sharp edges on these projects, take care.
